A quick post about my experience with using different greens.
Carol Mckinley
I first took lessons with Carol McKinley. Carol was an illustrator. Thin paints. Favored Burnt Sienna and Ultramarine for the darks. Thalo Green and Sap Green. I used that palette for some time.
Steve Parker
Steve did not care for Burnt Sienna or Sap Green. His mainstay was ultramarine and yellow ochre with a touch of alizarin and white. The tubed greens I adapted to were Chrome Oxide and Viridian.
LaNell Arndt
I took a work shop with LaNell and she suggested mixing all of my own greens. She keeps viridian on the palette but her mainstay is mixing greens from blues and yellows. She does use "Indian Yellow" on her palette and you can achieve some spectacular geens using: Ultramarine Blue, Alizran and Indian Yellow.
Today I am working (and it feels like work) on mixing all of my own greens.
