Painting on My Own

I entitled this entry "Painting on My Own" only because it was the open painting session at HCAA without an instructor. This is a small 6 x 8 inch study that I attempted with some new paints. I would have to admit: like a golfer that buys a new club to improve his game......I purchased a new brand of paint: M Graham & Company in hopes that they would perform better than some of the previous brands I had been using. The attraction to these paints was that they are Walnut Oil based paints as opposed to Linseed Oil based paints. My first observation is the the painting has stayed "tacky" longer and is taking a bit longer to dry than usual. I painted this picture with a very limited palette of only five colors. This was a very small canvas as I attempting to see if this picture would translate into a larger piece. I am quite pleased with this little "High Key" painting and think the study may actually be suitable for framing.
