Brazos Bend State Park

Brazos Bend State Park is one of my favorite spots to visit. I find the surrounding marsh and wetland just fascinating and there is an abundance of subjects to paint. This picture is less sophisticated and uses fewer colors than some of my other works but I feel like it adds to the "primeval" sense of the subject.

  1. Hey Jerry,
Really like this one. Strong values, limited palette and a clear focal point all make it work for me. Did you paint at the park or from a photo? Hope you are doing well.

  2. Tim,

Thanks for the encouraging words. This picture was actually painted from a photograph. An "Accomplished Artist" once told me that pictures should be viewed from a distance of five times the width.
